The life

Katharine Houghton Hepburn was an American actress known for independent screen roles and a long career in film, stage and television.

She moved from Broadway to Hollywood in the early 1930s, won an Academy Award for Morning Glory, then restored her career with The Philadelphia Story.

Her later films included The African Queen, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, The Lion in Winter and On Golden Pond; she died in Connecticut in 2003.
