The life
Indira Gandhi was an Indian politician who served as prime minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru and became India's first and only female prime minister.
Her premiership included the 1971 war that led to Bangladesh's independence, the 1975-1977 Emergency, a 1980 return to office and Operation Blue Star shortly before her assassination.
