The life
Jean-Thomas "Tomi" Ungerer was a French artist, illustrator and writer from Alsace.
He published more than 140 books, including children's books, adult works, satire, autobiography, political posters and film-poster work.
He received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for illustration in 1998, and Strasbourg opened the Musée Tomi Ungerer/Centre international de l’illustration in 2007.
