The life
John B. Goodenough was an American materials scientist and solid-state physicist born in Jena, Germany, to American parents.
He worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the University of Oxford and the University of Texas at Austin, and his research helped establish materials used in lithium-ion batteries.
In 2019 he shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino; he died in Austin, Texas, in 2023 at age 100.
